Ben and Sarah’s Romantic Windermere Wedding | Low Wood Hotel Wedding Photographer

Ben and Sarah met us together not long before the wedding to finalise various details and we were struck with how relaxed they were before the events.  We were most excited to be returning to beautifully picturesque area around lake Windermere. A little walk up to the Low Wood Hotel on the day before surprised us when we realised the hotel was the location of the finishing line of the Great North Swim we joined in its opening year of 2008! It was wonderful to have the opportunity to return on such a special occasion and experience the scenery from another perspective.

Our first stop for the wedding day was the groom’s parents house in the morning photographing the groom and his groomsmen getting ready. A lovely stone house tucked away in the village of Windermere where we found the groomsmen had already taken some bottled courage to prepare for the day. What they all hadn’t prepared for was the surprise luxury boat trip by the groom’s parents that would bypass the traffic and take full advantage of the clean, clear and sunny day to bring them to the hotel.

Unfortunately for us we had to experience the full and busy throng of increasing traffic to get from the marina in Bowness and up the hotel where Sarah and her bridesmaids were in the middle of preparations. However, we did manage to find the group happily and only slightly nervously gathered together waiting for the big events to come.

With Sarah getting ready in the room just upstairs above the hotel entrance, Ben arrived from the boat trip and mingled with the guests outside. Perched on the balcony we could see bridge and groom separated by only a few metres!

It wasn’t long until the two parties would meet. The ceremony was simple, sweet and very relaxed. A venue filled to overflowing with guests and with strong August sunshine. Something that would continue shining as the guests mingled and celebrated the exchanging of vows on the lawn set with lake Windermere as a backdrop.

Celebration was the theme for the rest of the day! While the guests enjoyed the cocktails and were entertained by a magician, we managed to find a spare 15 minutes to steal the wedded couple for a photograph on the hotel’s jetty to capture the warmth and happiness of the day.

To fully enjoy the setting there had been a boat trip organised that brought all the guests on a tour ’round the north end of lake Windermere, giving the whole party some time celebrate in the late afternoon summer light.

The celebration continued in the Low Wood hotel for the evening reception, cake cutting and then the bride and groom’s romantic first dance. It was a magical day and we wish Ben and Sarah a blessed and happy marriage.

Kind words from Ben and Sarah…
