Ben and Katie’s Hazlewood Castle Wedding

Ben and Katie’s Hazlewood Castle Wedding .

Setting a memorable date is an important task for any couple getting married and for Ben and Katie the day chosen was the eighth day of the eighth month. A glorious sunny Saturday in Yorkshire and the beautiful venue at historic Hazlewood Castle in which to be wed. The whole day was planned out carefully, but as life is apt to change those plans of mice and men, the groom was a wee bit late as one of the groomsmen fell ill giving proceedings a slightly nervous beginning! But then as the parties started arriving and settling into the characterful castle things calmed down and everyone seemed to enjoy a lovely relaxed day progressing from ceremony to blessing, from breakfast to dancing and all the laughter and joy in between at this gathering to celebrate the love of Katie and Ben. Here are a few pictures of the day which we hope you enjoy….xxx

Claire’s 35 weeks baby bump

Claire’s maternity photo shoot at 35 weeks

We had the privilege of photographing David & Claire’s wedding from Blyth Church to Hodsock Priory in the summer of 2013, so it was so touching to be invited to carry out a baby bump shoot for them two years later! We were so pleased to hear they were expecting a little girl and wish them every happiness as they embark on parenthood. As recent parents ourselves, we can appreciate the excitement, nervousness and anticipation of having a new life join you on life’s journey. Here are a few images of the couple (with bump!)…hope you enjoy….xxx

ZhuJiaJiao, China…a quick visit

Historic water town on the outskirts of Shanghai – ZhuJiaJiao

Taking a brief moment from parenting to edit some of the pictures of our time in China. We remember we ran for the bus from People’s Park and stood for nearly the whole journey from the city to a well known tourist destination called ZhuJiaJiao. It is a partially preserved water town outside the burgeoning metropolis of Shanghai. In a country where rapid urbanisation and demolition appears to be the norm, conservation is something of a new urban concept and this place is very popular. Here is a selection of photographs of the town. First in black and white which lends a quality of history and texture to the pictures. Second in colour to see the contrast. Hope you enjoy a brief look at these as much as we did taking them…

Amy and Kelvin’s baby bump photography

A fun and relaxed baby bump photo shoot

Amy is nearly 35 weeks pregnant and we did a maternity photo shoot in a local park last weekend.  We were lucky the weather was quite mild that day and we even get some lovely sunshine.  It is so beautiful this time of year as the park is covered with red and golden leaves and the autumn colours make the portraits even more romantic!

It was a such a fun afternoon wandering around the park with the relaxed couple.  Best wishes with the newborn and we look forward to meeting the baby soon! Here are some highlights of the day x

Romance in Shanghai

Pre-wedding photography …behind the scenes

Pre-wedding photography, or as some might know it an engagement photo shoot, is much more popular at the moment in Asia than in the UK.  Typically when a couple gets engaged, one of the first things they do is book a pre-wedding photo shoot, either with a bridal boutique or an independent photographer.  Most of the bridal boutiques in Asia including China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore provide a package that includes the hire of a wedding gown (or gowns), a make-up and hair artist (or artists) and a photographer (plus assistants) for a pre-wedding photo shoot.  This will normally take place a few months before the wedding reception and depending on the package they have chosen, the shoot might last a whole day (or two) in which the team and the couple will travel to a few locations for their portraits.  The bride and groom-to-be might change into different out-fits, change make-up and have a variety of hair styles!  There are increasingly competitive and imaginative  companies offering photo shoots to outdo, astound, and go to impressive lengths to get something unique. One such business venture in the large surroundings to Shanghai even has an underwater studio set up! For the more restrained photo shoots, when the images are ready, the couple can then post them on social media as an announcement of their forthcoming wedding.  They can also compile a slideshow to be shown on a projector or order an album/ frames/ posters to be displayed at the wedding reception.

During our stay in Shanghai, we couldn’t stop noticing so many couples wandering around the famous landmarks with their photographers, and dressed up in their wedding gowns and suits.  Here are some highlights of the many photo shoots we stumbled across in our travels for a behind the scenes look…enjoy!
