David and Claire’s Truly Beautiful Wedding | Hodsock Priory Wedding Photographer

The second day of August was a beautiful summer day and one on which we were delighted to be photographing the wedding of David and Claire.

To try to tell a complete story, the day started for us at David and Claire’s house in Hillsborough where David and his groomsmen were getting ready with a bacon roll breakfast. After a few shots of the party preparing, we then headed out into the countryside to find Hodsock Priory where Claire and her bridesmaids had begun to get ready in the beautiful, sunlit filled bridal suite. There was a definite growing sense of anticipation for the events to come as various guests dropped by.

With the dress on and bridesmaids just about ready, we followed David’s parents in their classic Rover up to Blyth where David and the guys had just arrived to stop by the local public house for a bit of courage. The rest of the guests then started parking up in the churchyard and filed into the church to wait for the ceremony. Held in St Mary and St Martin’s Church in the centre of Blyth, the sunlight was pouring in through the South windows and warming the colours of the stone walls as David waited for Claire. After a bit of a nervous wait for most people (including us!), Claire arrived in the afternoon sunshine. It was a wonderful ceremony, with the father and daughter moment just before they marched in being very precious. For me, being a wedding photographer is not about snapping away to get pictures, it is about the love, emotions and story you can tell by spotting those moments people have between each other that form long lasting memories.

The wedding party then followed Claire and David in their sports car back to Hodsock Priory for a brilliant afternoon of celebration, through a lovely sunset that poured across the lawned area of the house and then to an evening of dancing and enjoying the end of the day.

It was a truly beautiful wedding with a lovely bride and groom, their wonderful family and friends, colourful bouquet, socks an their amazing first dance…
